Hunting Permits
MNHA uses permit fees to hire staff to manage the Hunting Control Station to increase hunting opportunities at the PRR. We are open all day, Monday to Saturday, from Sep 1 through primitive weapons deer season (excluding Federal Holidays); and select dates during spring turkey season - unlike many other federal properties.
Permits can be purchased when the Hunting Control Station is open: Saturdays in August (9-3) and during the hunting season, September to January, from 6 AM to sunset.
Every hunter must appear in person to purchase a permit.
Hunters are required to complete the forms below to purchase a hunting permit. Save time at the HCS - download, print, and complete these forms and bring them with you.
MNHA accepts cash and checks only. (No electronic or credit card payments are accepted at this time.)
Don't forget your MD Hunting License.
2024/2025 fees:
Adult Hunting Permit - $100
Senior Hunting Permit - $65 (age 65 and older)
Junior/Youth Hunting Permit - No Charge with paying parent/legal guardian. $35 otherwise (age 16 and younger)
Optional Adult MNHA Membership - $30
Optional Junior MNHA Membership - Free with paying parent or guardian ($30 without paying adult)
MNHA works hard to keep fees as low as possible and to keep the HCS open all day, 6 days a week. Our fees remain competitive with other refuges’ permit fees - we are open more days and offer more species and weapon choices.
NOTES:
You do not need to purchase an MNHA membership to hunt at PRR. However, MNHA Membership is required to participate in the deer and turkey lottery hunts and use the bow/firearm ranges. (See MNHA Membership for additional benefits.)
PRR permit-holders and MNHA members are eligible for Maryland State Shooter Qualification.
Non PRR permit holders who want to get their MD Qualification Card may purchase an MNHA membership on the day of the qualification shoots.
We appreciate your understanding and continuing support of the PRR hunting program.
